Parent Assessment

  • Is the parent emotionally ready?

  • Does the parent have the ability to actively support the child?

  • Can the parent "get past" their own emotional reaction and identify things to say to the child that will be helpful and supportive?

  • Does the parent have any specific or unique concerns?

Parent
Psycho -Education

Based on the understanding of the parent assessment, a psychoeducation program is created to help parents understand the challenges their child is facing, through simple daily life examples and metaphors in a language that they understand best, and the level of awareness of the issues that they are.

Familiarise. Normalize. Simplify.

Parent Training

Our goal in parent training is

to teach or coach the parent to make appropriate responses and find more empathetic ways to reach out to   to the child. Parents vary considerably in their ability to do this; some may require almost no assistance, but others may need several sessions to gain the necessary skills and confidence.

The goal of the parent psychoeducation program is to assess and understand where in the journey of the therapy is the parent in relation to the child, the challenges they may face reaching out to the child, the level of awareness of the issues concerning their child, and ways to empower them to be more active, empathetic parents.

The following three-step protocol is followed while assessing and navigating the journey of parent empowerment:
